Giving back to local communities remains a priority for WM New Zealand (WM), with its largest site, Redvale Landfill & Energy Park in Dairy Flat, playing a key role in funding community projects. Through the Dairy Flat Community Trust, Redvale contributed over $100,000 last year to support local organisations, students, and individuals.
“Dairy Flat is a small but passionate community doing great things,” says Glen Jujnovich, Regional Manager of Redvale Landfill and a representative trustee for WM. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to support outstanding students, worthy projects, and our local school to the tune of over $100,000 a year, making a positive impact within the Dairy Flat community.”
Recent Contributions Include:
$60,000 to Dairy Flat School for a new basketball court, heavily utilised by students throughout the day and after school.
$10,000 to Matea Trust for upgrading shower facilities at Matea House, a residential support service for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
$5,000 to Harbour Hospice Trust for two motor recliner lift chairs, enhancing comfort and independence for palliative care patients.
$5,000 to the No.5 (Rodney District) Squadron Air Training Corps for new cadet uniforms, enabling students to attend community events in full, formal attire.
$1,200 in course fees for each of eight local tertiary students pursuing studies in Engineering, Mechatronics, Law, and Physiotherapy.
Since its inception in 1993, the Dairy Flat Community Trust has donated over $3 million to support the local community. Managed by elected trustees, the Trust continues to provide valuable funding to individuals and organisations across the region.
Applications for the 2024 funding round opened on 19 July and close on 13 September, with over $104,000 available for new projects. Application forms are available at Redvale Landfill & Energy Park or via www.dairyflatcommunitytrust.co.nz.
