Helping Out the Redvale Community for Three Decades

Hero5

Did you know WM New Zealand has been supporting the community around Redvale Landfill & Energy Park for 30 years?

As part of Redvale’s landfill consent, WM New Zealand established the Dairy Flat Community Trust in 1993. Each year, WM New Zealand contributes funding to the Trust to assist local organisations and individuals.

In 2022, the Trust received $95,890 from WM New Zealand, and this year, the contribution has increased to $100,385!

How the Funding is Used:

  • Seven tertiary scholarships totalling $7,000 were awarded to promising students.

  • $10,000 was allocated to a fund for developing a recreational area and tree planting after Redvale closes (this reserve fund now holds over $300,000).

  • $49,890 was distributed among seven local organisations to support community projects.

  • $5,000 was shared among three individuals to help them pursue personal ambitions.

Applications for the 2023 grant round opened on 21 July and will remain open until 15 September. More information can be found on the Trust’s website.

Once applications are received, the Trust’s board—comprising seven local representatives and WM New Zealand’s Regional Manager Glen Jujnovich—will select the successful applicants by the end of the year.

This ongoing support has fostered a strong relationship between Redvale and the local community. A big thank you to Glen and the entire Dairy Flat Community Trust board for their dedication!
